Recruitment Scholarship

Recruitment Scholarship Application

From it’s inception in 1868 and all the way up to the present day, the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity (Pike) has always taken pride in distinguishing itself as the preeminent Fraternity in the country. Every brother, young or old, would agree that there is something about Pike that makes it stand out among the other houses at UCLA. For most, that special something is the high values that Pi Kappa Alpha was founded on and the principles that are still in the hearts of every true Pike to this day.

The concept of S.L.A.G. is the single most important thing that makes Pike the finest organization in the Greek community at UCLA. Having a house full of young men who are Scholars, Leaders, Athletes, and Gentlemen (S.L.A.G) is crucial to Pi Kappa Alpha because a fraternity can only be truly successful when it has members that possess the character and ability to achieve success.

When a man embodies the idea of S.L.A.G., he is the type of well-rounded person that has the tools to excel at anything he does, and even more importantly he takes action to ensure that he will succeed. During our recruitment and pledge quarter, each individual is constantly evaluated on their level of S.L.A.G., and it is always our goal to initiate as many young men as possible that meet this standard.

However, it is fairly common that the chapter will run into a problem that hinders it’s ability to initiate the highest amount of quality men at UCLA. This problem is when the chapter recruits a potential new member that would be a great asset to Pike but he simply doesn’t have the financial resources to pay the quarterly dues.

Therefore, it is the goal of the S.L.A.G. Scholarship to give those valuable young men that embody our ideals and will directly contribute to the success of Pike, yet are unable to afford to pay their quarterly dues at the time that they join Pike an opportunity to join a timeless brotherhood. I encourage you to please take the time to apply to this scholarship and check out our house during your time at UCLA. Thank you.

Scholars Above All Else

Our House Policy:

At Pike, we understand that at an institution of learning, academics must come first. Every Pike member is expected to maintain, at the very least, a GPA of 2.5 or greater. If he does not meet these expectations then not only will he be subject to social probation, but his membership will be up for review as well.

Education is our number one priority.

Scholarship Awards:

The Pike brothers that excell in academics, (of which there are many), justly receive a quarterly reward based on their GPA standing for the last quarter's grades. Any brother who ends a quarter with a 3.5 or better is due to receive this pristigious honor in the first week of the following academic term.
